About WAV2IFF: explanations.
Ok. Audio files in WCP are encoded in 'XA' and 'C XA' (witch I assume to be Compressed XA)
formats. Audio files witch are in the IFF format (witch have FORM and SAMPFRMT chunks) CAN
take raw wav data (sample) instead of XA in it. The only thing is to replace the 'C XA'
chunk by a DATA chunk containing the raw wav sample. That's what WCPtaunt, SOtaunt, WAV2IFF
do. IFF2WAV is, for now, not very usefull since it will convert back to WAV only the IFF
files containing the DATA chunk. (I made it only to be able to listen to the IFF I previously
converted (my memory is somehow deficient) I DO intend to make my tools read/write XA format
in the future, as soon as I can (or someone else kind enough to share his discoveries) figure
out the format. Now, the other audio files (witch are NOT IFF format, no FORM chunk) CAN'T
BE ALTERED SUCCESFULLY BY MY TOOLS. Don't blame me if it doesn't work, these where not
desinged for altering other forms of audio than IFFs. If you try altering an IFF audio file
and it doesn't work, then e-mail me. I'll be pleased to find and correct the problem. Really :)
If any of you have some info on the XA format, or know someone who does, please e-mail me.
